  1. Cleaning & Decluttering Your Home:

Of course, your home needs to be clean and tidy in order to appeal to potential buyers.  Removing personal items also allows them to feel they could move right in.  Things to remove include religious items, personal items, family photos and memorabilia, awards or trophies, and items related to your hobbies.  These are obviously important sentimental items, but they will detract from the neutral quality your home needs in order to sell.

  1. Repainting Your Home:

Fresh paint is attractive.  Pick neutral colors to appeal to the majority of buyers.  Pops of brighter or bolder color can be added with “accessories” like throw cushions, but walls should be neutral to maximize the appeal of your home. If warranted due to wear and tear or color, the exterior of your home may also need to be repainted.

  1. Renovating Your Home:

At times, some degree of renovation may be appropriate for your home.  Kitchens and Master Bedrooms/Master Bathrooms are the areas where this adds the most value.  Minor renovations such as changing light fixtures, counter tops, knobs and pulls or cabinet doors can make a huge difference.
